Awstat installation issue

I'm installing Awstats 6.7 for the first time on a linux web server running Plesk, and have run into the following error when trying to complete the installation. (I was following the directions that I found here, so I was on the 5th step.)

Code:
[root@domain /]# /usr/local/awstats/wwwroot/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -update -config=www.domain.com
Error: AWStats database directory defined in config file by 'DirData' parameter (/var/lib/awstats) does not exist or is not writable.
Setup ('/etc/awstats/awstats.www.domain.com.conf' file, web server or permissions) may be wrong.
Check config file, permissions and AWStats documentation (in 'docs' directory).
* site name has been replaced with "domain" in the above code.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

In the /etc/awstats/awstats.www.domain.com.conf file, the DirData parameter points to /var/lib/awstats. The error is saying the /var/lib/awstats directory does not exist or cannot be written to by the user you are running awstats as. What do you get when you run the following?
Code:
ls -ld /var/lib/awstats

I get the following when logged in as root:
Code:
[root@domain root]# ls -ld /var/lib/awstats
ls: /var/lib/awstats: No such file or directory
I went ahead and changed the line in the DirData parameter in the config file to just read the default DirData="." so that I could try to get awstats working.

So I ran...

Code:
[root@domain root]# /usr/local/awstats/wwwroot/cgi-bin/awstats.pl -update -conf
Create/Update database for config "/etc/awstats/awstats.www.domain.com.conf" by
From data in log file "/home/httpd/vhosts/domain.com/statistics/logs/access_log

What else should I do now that I've done this?

Also, I'm not quite sure what the URL would be that let's me view the Awstats reports.
I've tried both my IP address and my url and haven't had any luck getting it to come up with the following...
Code:
http://www.domain.com/awstats/awstats.pl?config=www.domain.com
http://www.domain.com/awstats/awstats.pl
http://66.xxx.xx.xxx/awstats/awstats.pl?config=www.domain.com
http://66.xxx.xx.xxx/awstats/awstats.pl

It's probably better to create the /var/lib/awstats directory for the cron job to write the stats to. The home directory for root is not a good place for them.

As far as your URL goes, have you made the required changes to your Apache setup? The awstats setup docs have info about how to do that.
