Associating a file type with particular application

HI all
I have got a book as CHM file and I have got xCHM to read them. Now everythime I have to launch the xCHM and then ask it to open a given CHM file.
Usually, on right clicking the file one can select the application one want to use to open the file and ask it to remember it for that kind of file.
This option doesn't come when I right click a CHM file but comes on all other type of file.
How can I correct this or is there any otherway to open it by double clicking?
Thanks
SS

If this is KDE goto control-center->KDE Components->File Associations

And type chm into the find filename pattern.

You then can alter the item that comes up in the list. Select it and press the add button to select which program you want it to launch.
