Could not find mime type - application/octet-stream
Ok. Knoppix HD installed (basically Debian). Everytime I load KDE, load Konqueror, or go into Configure Konqueror, I get a message that says:
Could not find mime type.
application/octet-stream
Click ok, and everything seems to work fine....it's just annoying. It didn't always do this. Does anyone know how to get rid of this message or know what it means? I recently clicked on this "install flash plugin" in the K menu....could this have anything to do with it? I dont beleive my flash is working, so that's why I'm thinking that may have something to do with it. Any ideas?
Anyone? The change seems to be just w/ the username, but I REALLY dont feel like creating another user and reconfiguring everything. Any suggestions?????
Out of fear, I only renamed the octet-stream.desktop file and that took care of this problem right away.
I was trying to get FireFox to send mailto: links to Kmail on my SuSe 10 IBM Thinkpad and was messing with a lot of things. Mime types, apps, scripts and the about:config file in Firefox, but have not yet gotten it to work. I can only believe that this new error was due to this messing about.
