Unhappy Apollon, giFT issues driving me craaazy..

I've been at Apollon and giFT for a couple of hours now, and when I finally get everything to work (well... atleast that's what I thought..) there is it, yet another problem...

This is the issue when i start Apollon now..

Connection error
An unhandled error was returned when trying to open a connection with the giFT daemon, which is responsible for connecting to the various networks. The reported error was:
Operation not permitted (1)

anyone? I don't know what to do,....

Do you have the giFT deamon running when you try to start Apollon? If not you have to type gifgd or something similar to start the deamon first. You can also try using giFTcurs to use the ncurses based front end to see if you can connect with that.

well I typed giftd and this is what i got in return;

*** GIFT-FATAL: couldn't load protocol in file /usr/local/lib/giFT/libOpenFT.la: file not found
*** Often times more information can be found in the log file or with the -v command line switch.

hmm... what did i miss..?

type giftd -v to get more information. It looks like you may have not openFT installed.

I ran the OpenFT install again and now there seems to be a problem with apollon...

*** GIFT-FATAL: couldn't load protocol in file /usr/local/lib/giFT/libApollon.la: file not found

but in the /usr/local/lib/giFT/ I only have these files;

libFastTrack.la
libFastTrack.so
libOpenFT.la
libOpenFT.so

changing the protocol in ~/.giFT/giftd.conf to OpenFT:FastTrack instead of OpenFT:Apollon

gives me this message;

*** GIFT-FATAL: unable to start 'FastTrack', no idea why (hopefully the protocol provided some info)

I'm out of ideas, I feel like I've tryed everything now... help I need somebody! tralalal

Oh and BTW, changeing it Gnutella gives the same message.. unable to start 'Gnutella' etc....

I've tried to install giFT and OpenFT, withhout succes. Now I try Apollon, using apollon-dist.tar.bz2 (including the nessesary packages) and I get this message

su: unrecognized option `--kdeprefix'
Probeer `su --help' voor meer informatie.
Unpacking the applications...
su: unrecognized option `--kdeprefix'
Probeer `su --help' voor meer informatie.

Translation: Try ' su --help for more information'

But I was allready superuser ???

I use Mandrake 9.1, with KDE 3.1 on a 1GHz Duron driven pc.

I'm out of ideas.

Hans.
