anti-aliasing in gimp


does anyone know how to change to anti-aliasing for the pencil tool in The Gimp?
srry i no this is a n00b question

I don't think you can. That's one of the differences between a pencil and a brush...the pencil is a solid mark for hard-edged lines, and a brush can be altered in opacity and shape.
There's really no reason to soften a pencil when the brush is made for that purpose.
