Annoying gnome bug

Gnome has suddenly started to create two desktop icons whenever I mount my dvd-rom, only one is removed when unmounting. How do I get rid of this artifact (in lack of better words)? I delete it manually from ~/.gnome-desktop, but gnome still creates two icons when I mount it. Where does gnome keep this setting?

Do you have a stable version of Gnome?

Yup, only gnome 2.2 though. I'm running a special dualhead setup (not xinerama). It might be creating an icon for each screen. But it's weird that it doesn't remove both when you unmount.
