mixer settings not saving on reboot/misc. problems

the subject says it all.
whenever I reboot the computer all audio channels are set to 0 and muted!
Im using Debian stable 3 revision 2
a self-compiled 2.6.4 kernel
a self compiled 1.03 alsa driver/lib/utils
and the mixer alsamixer

also a smaller problem:
the computers routing tables reset without rebooting, but this only happened once and I'm not sure it will happen again.

also just incase you know anything about ut2003:
some ut2003 mods (just one out of two so far) don't show up in the ingame menu, I can join games using it fine but I can't use it on my one games.

(last question )
also is there anyway to get safe ext3 read/write support under windows 98, that would be really handy.

"alsactl restore" ALSA mixer settings on reboot

Googly,

To save and reload the sound card settings:

-First, you need to set your mixer/sound card settings using "alsamixer". (I assume that you are already doing this.

-Next, after exiting alsamixer, you need to save those settings using the command:

alsactl store

-Last, configure your system to reload these saved alsamixer settings on reboot, by running the command:

alsactl restore

... during your system startup.

This command should be run near the end of your startup processes, after all of your sound drivers and modules have loaded.

Sorry I can't help with the other questions.
