To save your alsamixer settings open a terminal and as root type in:
Code:
alsactl store
KDE 3.4 is in the Slackware-current directory. You can download the necessary files and use upgradepkg to upgrade, or you could use swaret/slapt-get and point whichever one to the current tree and use it to upgrade KDE.

The same happened to me.

There are three additional lib files that you are missing.

To find out what they are try this. Note there are other ways but this worked for me.

Run the following command

xwmconfig

Select gnome as you default window manager

run this command

startx

Once your are running gnome open a terminal

1. in the terminal run

startkde

Now you will see an error that say ....something, something, blah, blah could not find lib****

That is the first lib file you are missing

2. Go to the slack pakage repository, search for the lib file, download and install it, repeat from step one until it works. You will have to do this to fing the three files you need. It would be easier if you had the CD's.

Note
The lib file in the error is not named exactly the same as the actual file but is pretty close.

It worked for me, Good Luck

Did I help you?

Yeah!!!!!

I don't know much but I am learning.

I've learned that when I have a problem running a certain program, I try executing it from a terminal in a window manager or desktop manager.

That enables me to see the error printed on the screen and also allows to scroll up and down to see the full error as well as copy the error so I can post it to this forum for help with it.
