I'm using acidrip to convert my dvd collection, but I've noticed that when I play back the avi in VLC, I get a green line at the bottom of the film; this green line does not seem to be present in I watch the film vla mplayer.

I'm using audio codec mp3lame, and video codec lavc.

Anybody seen this problem before or knows what causes it?

Could just be the way each player handles the codecs.
