make up Oracle Linux 6.2 Server


Hi Friends,


First let me introduce myself, I am working as linux administrator in Linux Enterprise 5.0 version and oracle linux 6.2 server edition.

Our company's Oracle Linux 6.2 Server edition server is down due to HDD bad sector, we tried many ways to up. please advice any source of information, making up the server without losing data.

you did buy the oracle support contract ?
right?

time to use it .

also if this is a 6.2 ( and not the CURRENT 6.6 install )
was this server ever updated with the last 3 years of security updates and fixes ?

the same with RHEL5.0 that is 11 versions out of date and 5.0 is missing 7 years of updates

What have you done ?
Have you read through the logs ?
are there any clues to the drive failure

for too many bad sectors to be a issue this is a LONG TIME issue that you have been having
