How to check connectivity from Linux Server to Oracle DB server?

Hi,

I have a two server setup which connects to the same DB. When I am doing netstat -an | grep <db port> on the first server I am able to see there are connections made to the DB. But if I do it on my second node I am unable to see any connections. Does that mean my server is no connecting to the DB server? Or currently there are no connections?

Is there any other way to check connectivity between server and DB?

The fact netstat returns no data, means that there was no connection when you ran it. That might not mean that there is never a connection.

If you want to check whether the server can see the database, you could use tnsping. Otherwise you could use something like wireshark to sniff the traffic between the boxes.

If netstat returns no data mean you don't have a connection with your database at that time.

Another way to check connection between your server and database is
telnet < database server ip> DB port

If above command will work fine then you have connection with your database.
