mail from a server

Hey and Thanks,

I'm mainly writing this becasue I don't know. I have a couple of linux servers and I would like to do a grep on /var/messages and then mail it to myself. I would also like to get the mail out of /var/spool/mail/ to myself. Is this postfix or sendmail or something else that i can do this with?

For the first question you can use something like:

grep WHATEVER /var/log/messages|mail -s "My logs" username@domain.com

As for the 2nd question, if I understand you well, you can forward your email to another account you want using postfix or sendmail/procmail forward feature.
