You can stop it by using "tune2fs" with root privileges. However I would recomend just changing the interval to something different rather than turning off. The drive checks are important to ensuring a system runs well and that you maintain data integhrity.

sudo tune2fs -c 0 /dev/sdX (X is the drive in question -- a first port on MB, b second, c third and so forth)
--again I would ^ change the 0 to a number that is less bothersome. If you have multiple drives you could also stagger the checks so the boot delay is reduced.
