Smile dhcp does not run on fc5

good morning lq world. i am new to networking as well fedora 5 . i'm trying to get dhcp running so i can setup a dhcp server, it does not want to fire up in network services.when i try to start the service and nothing happens if you check and run any other dhcp software they start imediately.another clue is when booting. the status for dhcp is failed.also when i do get it working how do i start the service? also what is better a dns server or dhcp.i'm serving to 4 other windows boxes.thanks for the help, blessings to you.

It's probably a misconfiguration but what do your logs tell you?

Mis configuration

Ik agree with trickykid you probably have a configuration problem, i use fedora core 5 with dhcp without any problems.

Try the following in a shell

grep dhcpd /var/log/messages

Maybe this will tell you more.
