Hi Everyone,
I am trying to find a way of successfully running Clamav on my Ubuntu Server 18.04 with Virtualmin Control Panel. If i set it up it works for a couple of weeks no issues then all of a sudden it will max out all server resources stopping me from using the server. Is there a way to optimise Clamav to use a specific amount of resources (limiting it) so it does not cripple my server? Mainly happens when scanning email but even if i disable the scanning of email it still goes crazy!
You provide no detail. What do the logs say, what is happening there?
Obviously a full disk scan will be resource intensive. Maybe clamav can be configured? Did you read its documentation?
Failing that, the 'nice' command could help.
Apologise I resolved it, it was still configured to scan email. I was receiving allot of emails and it was causing the server to lock up. I disabled it via command prompt first and then disabled it through Virtualmin which resolved the issue.
