Apache SSL encrypt only a portion of web page

Hi,

My server will be hosting bandwidth intensive data which will require authentication to get access to the data.

I obviously want to encrypt the actual log in to protect my client's passwords. However, the data itself doesn't really need to be encrypted for transmission, so I would like to save bandwidth and not encrypt the data.

I don't want to simply encrypt the log in page because I want the PHP session IDs to be passed encrypted. So I would like to know if there is some way to encrypt a portion of the web page (like the session ID) but not the rest of the page.

Thanks.

I don't personally know of a way. I would also point out that you're not really sucking up a lot of extra bandwidth using SSL/TLS-encrypted pages. What you're sucking up with that is CPU cycles.
