I have windows xp and mandrake linux in my pc.windows files having virus.when copy my windows files into linux /home directory.what abt the virus?will it goes to my /home files...pls.
Do you know which virus?
If it infects certain files and you then copy those to your linux partition then yes you will keep the data around, but it's unlikely you could manage to execute the infected file in a way that it'll actually do anything under the linux kernel if it's expecting to be run on a windows machine. Firstly you'd have to set the file to executable and then it'd have to understand the linux filesystem to even touch your own files, and permissions would block it from messing with any vital system files.
Windoze viruses are not "root packges" and hardly to infect your linux system, even if inside.
