Gnutella ports


Gnutella ports! I keep getting 1 packet sent to my PC I have no Limewire or Frostwire or do any peer to peer
so help me God
ubuntu support forums are great also have the ports blocked too am I getting Hacked? does Ubuntu have a peer to peer program running I dont know about? if anyone has any idea please input would be great thank's

Are you referring to Gnutella packets hitting your public IP? That's pretty normal regardless of whether you are running a Gnutella servent or not. Most likely whoever had your IP before was running one - who knows. We have no control over what packets people send our way. All we can do is filter the ones we don't want, which sounds like it's precisley what your firewall is doing.

Thank You for the reply yes I don't run any p2p software and I still keep seeing these packets form that IP I hated to post this but it was nagging me. I had to get some real input. I'd not worry about it I'm just new to Linux and dident know if this Ubuntu 7.10 had any new software installed buy default I was not used to
