I dont know if this belongs in security but heres my problem,
I cant ask questions on this board or get into yahoo mail, I can surf the web without any problems ,gaming sites , encrypted web pages etc.
I can get in yahoo mail with my user name and password fine but when I click on " Inbox " the browser times out saying connection refused. With linux questions I can sign in and open the question box page but after filling in the fields I try to submit the new question and it just times out. This happens with both the desktop lan and laptop wireless and all linux distro's Fedora, Mandriva and Suse.
Now heres the bull-shizzle of it, I can do both of those operations in windows so I dont think its my set up ( D-link router )
Ive turned off my firewall and privoxy in all the Linux distro's and tried with the same result.
So after reading quite a few docs Im able to get into yahoo and ask questions by using an anonymous proxy with privoxy's forward option
Now I really dont need to surf under an anonymous proxy and finding one that's relativly fast is a pain so Id like to solve the problem another way.
Thanks for any help
Ya I thought of that to, I was watching something on TV and then thought " COOKIES " jumped up cranked up the puter and no go --------tears.
Im beginning to think SBC doesnt like Linux ---commee bastards
How about javascripts - they turned on?
You have this problem when you are submitting a form.
Like the "new thread".
Can you search the forums OK? How about replying to a question? Or editing your profile? Narrowing down which forms present this difficulty could help.
Also - tell us the browser and kernel in linux and the browser and windows type in windows.
Maybe jeremy can figure it out - he'll know what it looked like from the LQ side when you tried to submit a question.

Java is on enough to view Mapquest maps, but I dont know very much about that subject.
"You have this problem when you are submitting a form."
Yes when I try to submit it ( Submit Reply ), I can surf the forums fine. I can edit my profile , that was a surprise to me I thought it was the same type of operation as the ones Im having trouble with. So now thats really messing with my mind.
" Also - tell us the browser and kernel in linux and the browser and windows type in windows."
As for the browser, I tried with success in suse9.3 store bought version Im not sure of the kernel with Konqueror, Mandriva 2.6.11-6mdk with firefox and Konqueror, Fedora 4 with firefox. last and always least Winblows XP with insecure explorer
The only thing Ive changed is now Im surfing through some proxy server in Mexico.
I think your right, I think a webmaster could tell me what the common denominator is.
