newbie question you have heard a million times

well, I'm sure you guys have already heard this before. But what is the most well rounded distro of Linux. I have tried Mandrake before, along with PHLACK, and Noppix, but did not really know how to truly use them. I heard that Fedora is good. But I don't really know. If you guy's could give some advice, it would help. My system is as follows

AMD 2500 Barton
WD 80 GB HD
256 MB Crucial DDR
Gigabyte GA-7N400L MOBO
Lite-On CD-R/W
Cheap video card
Logitech MX310 mouse
Lite-on keyboard.

is there a distro that would support these

All distros would support that set-up. Mandrake and Knoppix are good beginners Distro's, and would see you alright, what couldn't you figure out?

Welcome to LQ.

Linux will run on most PC hardware.

Visit http://www.tldp.org/docs.html for some good reading material. That might help you on your path to enlightenment.

What do you mean by "did not really know how to truly use them"? What are you planning to use them for? It should be no problem at all if you just want to browse the web/send e-mails...

Can I third it? I am still quite a newbie to Linux in general and it seems like everyday I'm running into something I need to go learn how to do, but, at least from what I've seen of other distros, I do like how Slack makes you learn everything. Plus, things like KDE, Redhat, and rpms just remind me of Windows for some reason (nothing against those, though).

Moved: This thread is more suitable in Linux-Distributions and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

And yes, we have heard this a million times.

And Wlaw - politeness dictates that you start your own thread - not hijack someone else's.
