it hangs up with the "connecting..........."

there was no error while installing the gaim but when i run it . it could not connect me
to the ymessenger (i am behind the firewall and can connect to the internet with the

try turning off iptables to see if that is the problem:

as root, run:
Code:
/sbin/service iptables stop
if that doesn't work.... then it may be the proxy/firewall that you're running through.

hope i could help!!!!!!!!!!!!

can you post a snapshot of your /var/log/messages file when trying to connect using yahoo or GAIM? i'm curious as to if they are posting any error-based activity to your log file(s).
