VLOS questions

First off I appologise if this is thw wrong place to post my message I could find vlos in the distrpbutions section. At the moment I am running Mepis Linux but I am interested in giving VLOS a try. I have a few questiosn though firstly. Does it require internet access during the installation? Or does the installation from cd give you everything you need to get started with, I know additional osftware would need to be pulled from the ports thingy.

Is VLOS user friendly. I'm not a complete newbie to Linux, but having to configure things my self is out of my ability i say with most things. oes VLOS try and set everything up for you during isntall if it can like x server etc.

The VLOS site is down due to hardware problems so I cant look there for any information. SO I was wondering what you uys could tell me. Alo any general opinions of it as a desktop use OS would be appreciated.

Thanks Michael

Vidalinux is based on Gentoo, except the installer is graphical and you install stage 3 rather than having an option as to which stage to install.

I would suggest you go to www.gentoo.org and have a read of the handbook, it's all relevant. And check out this.
