Question vlc installation problem


hello friends..
i have a PC, but it has no internet connection.
so how can i install vlc(or any other software that plays .avi files)
on my computer??

i can downlaod any software through my frnds PC..and install it through a flash drive.
plzz help me frnds..

download the rpm, then install it with
rpm -i foo.rpm

You can download mplayer on your friend's computer.

Download mplayer source and binary codec packages
(Before you compile mplayer you need to unpack the codecs archive and put it
in a directory specified in the README file.
Unfortunately, if you have some dependency problems, it might be a difficult task.
Ideally, you'd get your computer to your friend's house, update your system and install necessary
programs.

can u give me the link of a debian binary of vlc.....with all dependencies resolved..so that i can install it on my computer...

Here's the source for vlc:
http://downloads.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/latest/

Taking into account possible dependency problems, you might be better off installing real player
http://www.real.com/linux

then you download the deb file, and do
dpkg -i foo.deb
