Sorry, I didn't get it all

1. Boot up with your Windows XP disc.

2. Select the option Recovery Console.

3. At the prompt, type "fixmbr" (without the quotes of course)

4. Restart your computer.

Ok, which windows installation would i like to use? It asks me?

What is the adminisrator password?
Is it the log on one in windows, or a one on the computer. Is there a default one? I've never used the recovery console before!

If this is your own Windows XP installation that you are trying to recover and you have never explicitly entered a password for the "Administrator" account, then that account has no password. Just type "Administrator" in the login and hit enter.

Ok...

It comes up saying:

**CAUTION**

This computer appears to have a non-standard master boot record.

FIXMBR may damaged your partition tables if you process.
This could cause all partitions on the current hard disk to become inaccessible!

I don't want to loose any data, will everything be alright?

Don't worry, it won't damage your Windows partition. It will overwrite your MBR.

Unhappy

NO!!

As soon as i boot the pc i hear the two fatal beeps then:

"Strike F1 to retry boot or F2 to enter Dell Setup Utility"

This happened straight after, then i checked to see if there was a version of windows on there, and there was so i repaired it! Exactly the same thing happened!

Any more ideas!?
