Also note that Linux (and, OS/X ...) printing is provided by
the Common Unix Printing Subsystem (CUPS), and that the printer drivers needed run in
user mode: they are not particularly specific to this-or-that
operating system. Most printer models are well-supported, although CUPS can be a bit of a tricky beast to deal with.
Once it works
, it works just fine. You should expect to be able to use most any commonly-available printer with it, with little difficulty. Check the CUPS web-site and distro documentation ahead of time.
