ubuntu compatible printer reviews
need help finding a printer that is compatible with Linuz (ubuntu 16.04)

Welcome to LQ!
I suggest looking at https://wiki.linuxfoundation.org/ope.../databaseintro |

The Linux Foundation list is very incomplete. The best bet is
1. Look at available printers and find a few that look good and have good reviews at Amazon. 2. For each one, search on-line for the name of the model and "linux driver" and eliminate those which don't seem to have anything. 3. Buy one of those that does! That said, any HP will work and I've had success with the Samsung unified driver. |
another vote for HP.

Brother printers are linux compatible with comprehensive setup instructions.

Also note that Linux (and, OS/X ...) printing is provided by the Common Unix Printing Subsystem (CUPS), and that the printer drivers needed run in user mode: they are not particularly specific to this-or-that operating system. Most printer models are well-supported, although CUPS can be a bit of a tricky beast to deal with. :)
Once it works , it works just fine. You should expect to be able to use most any commonly-available printer with it, with little difficulty. Check the CUPS web-site and distro documentation ahead of time. |
I have use HP printers (the Envy model) for the last 5 years without an issue.
