Hello,

I am trying for the last couple of days to install CentOS on my Windows 10 system that has SSD with RAID enabled hard drive

I have downloaded CentOS and checked its checksum that's same with the downloaded mini version. I used Cygwin to write this iso file to my 8GB USB

When I try to reboot and install through media check then always seeing this error:

The media check is completed; the result is: Fail failed to start media check on /dev/sda

I stuck and don't know what shall I do next to fix it

Are you actually using RAID with Win10 ?. If you merely have the harddrive set to RAID in the BIOS, try changing it to ACHI.

A media check error would indicate a possible problem with the USB drive.

Did you use the dd command in cygwin to create the USB installer? Was it mounted when you ran the command?

As an alternate to cygwin, Win32 disk Imager has been report to work correctly to create CentOS USB boot media.

Will I lose my data? When I change it then its showing alert that it may effect OS devices and may my laptop not work correctly

my USB drive is sdb not sda. Its throwing error about sda

Yes it's mounting but when creating partitions or installing CentOS with automatic disk configuration it throws error

Yes, I also tried win32 disk imager but same problem

I changed RAID to AHCI but same problem

Are you trying to over write the windows partition or are you trying to install beside the windows partition?

If you are trying to over write windows then simply format the drive and try again.

If you are wanting to install beside windows then you are going to need free space to do it. There are plenty of webside that explain how to shrink your widows drive to give you space to install linux.
