Does anybody know a program that does telephony with your 56Kb modem.
I mean the mic and speaker go in the modem and the line to the Old Phonecompany.
Under Windows (Sorry for mentioning) in the early days you had a phone/fax program from
Bitware. It came standard (as a gift) with an internal modem.
I liked the program. Can I find something like that ifor Linux?
I think asterix is to much and to big for me.
Thanks in advance for your kind advice. Teunis

Do you wan to make calls with you computer?
If you have an internet connection download Skype for your flavor of Linux.
Linux has SIP based softphones that should be able to do this also.
Do you want to fax?
I am not familiar with linux faxing software.
Asterisk@Home has an addon that will make it possible to get faxes.
You would need a P3 1Ghz computer to install Asterisk@home.
You would need to get a FXo card to connect to your RJ11 phone line.
Welcome to LQ.
