Question Startx has errors


When I run starts it says (ee) server terminated with error (1). closing log file. I've tried deleting .Xatouraty I've tried reinstalling sort all with no affect





All help appreciated,

what Operating system is this ?
and why is xdm or gdm or kdm not starting the gui ?

Look for the first (EE) line in the output from startx. This will tell you the original error. Likely, you don't have the correct driver loaded or there's an issue detecting your hardware. Have you made any changes to your system recently?

were you using a proprietary ATI or Nvidia driver ?
if so you have to rebuild the kernel mod and reinstall the driver .
