Starting KDE automatically

Hey, back on Slackware and it's working great. This question is more a matter of convenience....

I want to be able to type "X" at the console and have KDE start automatically once X starts. As it is, I have to type "startx" and then "startkde" in the X console, which, by the way, won't go away once I'm in KDE. Currently if I type "X", X starts no problem, but just gives me a grey screen with an x cursor.

Additionally (though I don't want to do this yet), I'd like to know how to start kdm at boot.

Thanks for any help....
