Second account doesn't have a working desktop?

I'm using ubuntu 12.10.
I've been running my account (admin) and my parent's account (regular user) just fine since I got this computer about a month ago.
Today when I logged on to their account to see if they could access my virtualized windows 7 (which it could) I noticed I couldn't do anything on the deskop.
I couldn't right click, or click and drag to create the orange rectangle.
I tried creatinga shortcut to windows7 via the virtualbox program, but nothing appeared on the desktop. (but it does appear on mine when i do it on my account)
and the strange thing is that when nothing is open, the top left corner usually says "Ubuntu Desktop" but it's just blank on their account.
Everything else works just fine.
Any clue?

This only seems to happen when I lock my account and log on to theirs.

once in theirs, the desktop returns to normal after opening nautilus twice.
Hm

Oh, and the strange effect has no crossed over to my account also :l

FIXED IT
I just searched for the setting in dconf editor's search function and found it.
