Gnome Desktop Settings Disappear for NIS Account

Hi there --

I have a user with an NIS account who lost the desktop settings she was used to having available whenever she logged into her Fedora Core 2 workstation. The configuration in question concerns the presence of two launchers that normally appeared on the toolbar.

The user has always been able to log into the domain without a problem. The NIS servers in this scenario are HP-UX 11.00 for the Master, and Fedora Core 2 for the slave.

I was able to recreate the launchers and verified the applications operated properly. But I am not sure as to why the problem occurred in the first place.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
