Rythmbox doesn't work, can't install missing plug in

Hi chaps, I seem to have a problem with Rhythmbox. I have reinstalled ubuntu 12.04 on my dell xps 17 and today when I have attempted to play some music I got an error message saying that an additional plugin was needed (see screenshot attached). When I click install I get the following message:

Code:
 Package dependencies cannot be resolved

This error could be caused by required additional software packages which are missing or not installable. Furthermore there could be a conflict between software packages which are not allowed to be installed at the same time.

gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg: Depends: libavcodec-extra-53 (>= 4:0.7.3-1) but 4:0.8.9ubuntu0.12.04.1 is to be installed

I have installed the GStreamer extra plugins found here https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applicat...-plugins-ugly/ but I still ge the error. Does anybody know what to do? thanks

OK, I think I managed to get it to work. This is what I have done:
Code:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:fossfreedom/rhythmbox-plugins
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rhythmbox-plugin-complete
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
Now it works, but the volume is really low even if I turn it all the way up it's not as loud as it should? Is there anything I have done wrong?
thanks
