Resolution and Rate before X ???


Is there a way to change the resolution and scan rate of the text login display before starting startx?

Try this in your GRUB menu (or LILO)

vga=791
or
vga=794

Those will give you 1024x / 1280x with 16 bit / 24 bit colors. Play around with e.g. 790 .. 792 .. 795 and see the different :-)

Those are nothing to do with X. After startx your KDE or KDM whatever still remain on their xconfig.
