rdesktop printer redirect

It's about the remote desktop printer redirection.

I would like to make remote document print in local printer.
Do local machine have to support the remote document fonts?

I found if it's not , the local print will get lots of strange codes.

It doesn't make sense for local having to support remote document font...
Does it?

If your remote computer can directly communicate with your printer... i.e it is shared then I dont see why your local printer should have the fonts.

The scenario is...
A and B are two different systems.
A has a local printer.
A connect to B by remote desktop and open a document of B.
A commit a print command and it print out in local. (That's so called "redirction".)

Under the mechanism ,is A necessary to share its printer?
Or we have some setting for print out successfully?

Hello okeyla!

I belive that some fonts get automatically substituted.
I found this thread while searching to find out why my
international characters got messed up while printing from a windows
machine trough an rdesktop -r printer connection.

i solved the problem by doing these steps on my windows machine: http://www.sketchpad.net/config-ps-printer-winxp.htm
Your problem might be more complicated, but i hope this link helps...

Andrew
