Unhappy rdesktop help please!

Hello all. Before i begin, i just want to say that this is a nice board for help (even though im still stuck!). I am happy i registered!

Now, for my question...

I installed rdesktop, along with tsclient.

I can connect up to my xp machine, in and out of my network, from my linux box. When it connects, i get the xp login box, and then takes me to the desktop.

I am trying to connect to a win2k server box w/terminal services. when connecting thru tsclient, the connection is cut off right away, and a box pops up saying "connection reset by peer".

When trying to connect thru rdesktop at the prompt, i get this:

ERROR: recv: Connection reset by peer
Broken Pipe

XP connects just fine to the 2k server.
Is there anything i can do about this? Is is server-side?

thanks,
dan

I don;t know much about rdesktop on win2k - is it possible that you need to allow the host to connect on the win2k machine?

re:

OK, i found the solution (yay!).

My linux is configured just fine. It is actually the Win2k server that is blocking the connection from linux to Win2k. Could be a firewall, router, or the OS itself. Either way, I set up rdesktop and Linux correctly.

Thanks for the help, everyone.

rdesktop will only connect to a windows machine that is running and with the terminal services service started.

If you have windows sitting dormant on an HDD in your linux computer then the answer is no you can't do as you suggested.
