proxy settings on suse


hey i've just installed SUSE and used this link to configure proxy to have internet access. but that isn't suficcent

http://www.unixmen.com/how-to-enable-proxy-on-opensuse/

now the settings is correct because it works on nearby ubuntu.
i'm connecting with both with USB2LAN
any ideas?

When you say SuSE I am assuming it is openSuSE and not SuSE Linux Enterprise Server. The document you mentioned is for openSuSE and will work well with SuSE as well as with openSuSE with just one exception that SuSE require you to purchase subscription.

Coming to troubleshooting part, did you check if you are able to ping the default gateway? What about resolution? Are you able to resolve any of the websites? Is it just zipper or yast have issues or internet access itself is affected?

You said you are using USB2LAN, how it is configured. Is your Ubuntu box and SuSE box are able to communicate with each other? How you have setup the network?

Wink so here is the solution

on the installation OS steps i defined to install some internet kit (dont remeber the exact name)
but that solved the issue.
by the way, for repository proxy access it was needed to export the default proxy settings to those of root user (using sudoers file)
