/proc/cpuinfo says processor is 700mhz?

Hey guys, I am a little bit confused here. I was looking around at overclocking my AMD 64 3400+, and saw a post about checking /proc/cpuinfo for your current processor mhz speed.

/proc/cpuinfo shows it as 797.949mhz, but in the KDE processor info, it shows it as being over 2000mhz.

which one of these is reporting the correct speed?

Thanks !

Are you using anything like "powernow" or a similar technology?

Some of those CPU speed adjustment systems change the information.

Well thanks for the reply man, but I figured it out, and it was actually just too obvious that I didnt think of it.
Funny thing is, I was getting so frustrated with this problem that I was considering making windows xp the default OS on grub!

I found that I just had to adjust the power settings (because I am running a notebook), to performance while running on AC power!
