Bad /proc/cpuinfo or processor overclocked!!!

I have an Centrino 1.6 GHz.

When i issue a cat /proc/cpuinfo i get the following:
Code:
processor : 0
vendor_id : GenuineIntel
cpu family : 6
model : 13
model name : Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
stepping : 8
cpu MHz : 1840.784
cache size : 2048 KB
fdiv_bug : no
hlt_bug : no
f00f_bug : no
coma_bug : no
fpu : yes
fpu_exception : yes
cpuid level : 2
wp : yes
flags : fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss tm pbe est tm2
bogomips : 3196.14
Note that cpu MHz is 1840.784, which is beyond the max frequency at which my processor was designed. On the other side, issuing
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq returns
Code:
1600000
.

I don't know, is my processor overclocked? It yes, how can i make it work at it's nominal values?

Hi

I have the same, it sometimes drop to 166Mhz! and sometimes above the limit with a centrino 1.6Ghz.

You can try by disabling Automatic speedstep in your bios..
