probing monitor and then black screen
hello guzy .. once again a dumb question but its problem
when i try to tinstall redhat .. it goes well when it comes to monitor its like that
probing monitor : UNKNOWN MONITOR
svga/card etc (here) : unknown
then prints the eror not able to initiate/star x window system then monitor show black screen nothign else
i try to plug a philips monitor and then viglen with both its so .. whats the problem
i m thinking its graphics card its not dettecting it
my vga card is of that company
S3 graphics prosavage ddr
 what i do now

kz .. here are my system specs
p4 2.00 ghz
384mb ddr ram both of kingston
vga card : s3 graphics prosavageddr
i set it to 8 mb from setup vga
hard disk 20 gb and 40 gb but i m using 20 gb to install linux only .. (only 1 hard at a time)
motherboard is
MSI 6787(v1.x) M=atx (p4mam series)
MONITORS : have 2 but using 1 at time tried both
VIGLEN 17 inches
philips 14 inches
i think its enough system information ..
=================================
i m getin eror xserver cant be setup .. and then some lines then black screen and i press some buttons it says killing signals
terminating signals then it reboots

hello,
once my friend has this problem.
he has ASUS motherboard......and it was not supporting o/s below Red Hat 9.
so what i would like to suggest you is to try with some other ( probably new ) distro of Linux .
