Question package installation problem in fc6


hi,
i am newbie in linux.iam using fc6.while i trying to install some packages like xmms,xine etc iam getting the error msg that "UNABLE TO GET THE SOFTWARE INFORMATION.THIS COULD BE CAUSED BY NOT HAVING A NETWORK CONNECTION".how can i over come this?

Hello and welcome to LQ, hope you like it here.
Do you have a network connection? Can you verify that by accessing a website with your favourite webbrowser or pinging say Google: "ping -c 3 www.google.com" or a traceroute to say apt.sw.be?
