Question Problem with Package Installation

I recently installed Fedora Core 1 on my machine, and installed the basic desktop setup.
Now I realize that I want more of the packages installed. I go to Add/Remove Applications to install the other packages, but It gives me an error everytime I try to install anything. It says that certain packages need to be installed first, but no matter what I try to install there are more packages that need to be installed beforehand. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Go to the apt4rpm site link below, download the two rpms for your distro and command:
rpm -Uvh apt*

Then command:
apt-get update
apt-get install synaptic

Now you can run either apt-get in command line or synaptic for the gui front end to install packages with much better depencency resolution.
