Newbie Question

Hi, I have just installed RH9 in my system together with Window98. I set them on dual boot.

I have a few problems regarding the printer in RH9. it seems that i cannot install or detect the printer (Sorry, im used in using windows). Im using KDE as my desktop. Also i have no other pc's to network at home.

Here is another question.
Is there a way to open windows98 folder in linux?

Thanks in Advance!

Did you use RedHat's GUI configurator,
Look under System in the menu for Printer Configuration.
Or
Open a console window and type redhat-config-printer-gui.

There is one driver available ( at least in RedHat 7.3 )

http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_pr...m=Lexmark-1100

according to this site, the 1100 has a partial working status, so it may be some work to get it going...but being partial means there is still hope and it can get done.

and yes you can view win98 just mount the partition as vfat.

I have the same printer (Lexmark 1100) on RH9 and everything seems to check out just fine (using RH's pretty GUI printer install) but when it comes time to actually printing, the item is send to the que and you cna even see the 'jobs' awaiting to be printed but they soon disapear (like they were finished) but nothing comes out of the printer, no activity whatsoever with the printer.

Any ideas? this is via CUPS i beleive. No hand compiling er anything like that, simply selected the '1100' model from the 'lexmark' menu in the pritner setup wizard.

*shrug* Was never good at printers.
