Newbi With Red Hat and a Modem Problem

I just downloaded Red Hat 8 and I cant get on the internet because I have a Lucent Win Modem... If anyone can help me please do


btw-How do you turn the HTML code ON in this forum?

Go to and download scanmodem utility. Run it as root and it will tell you which modem you have/which driver will be needed (I recommend you do this even if you know u have lucent winmodem, just to make sure). Download the driver and install it (read instructions). Then you can use either kppp or wvdial(I prefer this) to dial in. Just reply back whn you have configured your modem..We will help you with configuring the network connection or any other problem
