New to Linux and WinXP dual boot different drive

I am new to Linux and have a 120GB and 160GB hardrives. 120 (sda) has WinXP Professaional on it and is pretty full. I partitioned the 160 (sd1) as 75GB NTFS, 75GB EXT4, 10gB Linus Swap.

I installed Linux Mint 13 Maya Mate and was hoping for a dual boot. When I installed, I partitioned the Linux section as EXT4 Journalfilesys, checked the bound box and mounted /.

Now I boot it it goes directly to Windows XP.

I have been reading several posts and believe the separate HDs are the way to go but need to get grub moved to the mbr on sd0.

What is the easiest way to do this?

I appreciate the help.

Pete

If I understood correctly, you installed linux and grub on the 160GB hard drive?
If so, is your BIOS set to boot off of that drive first?

The 120 is the primary. I reinstalled and now come up with a bootloader screen asking to start Linux, Linux Recovery, XP. I haven't tried the XP yet. Will post back if I am having a problem.

Edit: Rebooted in both systems. Everything is good for now but I can assure you I will be back.

Thanks
Pete

Backup up now!

I always use bios to select the first boot order drive myself. This assumes a sort of newish system. That way I don't bork (hopefully) the original xp drive. Go into bios an change the order of hard drive so that the new target drive is the first drive. Just my way.
