my slackware does not configure my 8 USB ports?

Well, here we go again. This is my first on this forum and I will try to keep it clear:

Since a couple of weeks I have tried all kinds of distros and finally decided to work with slackware on one machine and Debian on the other.

My question is Slackware related: I have 1 usb scanner, 1 USB harddrive, 2 USB printers, 1 USB card reader, 1 USB HASP controler for a software product and some odds and ends.

I should get a good handle on how to set up USB ports. At this moment I'm getting frustrated and I don't seem to be able to get my 66 year old brain around this stuff any more.

They tell me that I picked the two least user friendly distros....

Can anyone point a finger in the right direction?

Thanks a lot

First I guess we will start with what is working and what is not. If I were to guess I would say the hard drive is working and that is about it.First post;
Code:
su <password>
lsusb
For the printers I would get one to work and then worry about the other. I would start with the easist one first.What kind of printers are they? I hear the card reader may be a problem and I don't know what a HASP is.
The scanner is a posible.
