Feeling like a Newbie (again.) I'm running a headless Linux Server, recently upgraded to Slack 9.1, and was just about to fire up an x-session in Windoze when I realized I couldn't export the server's display to my MS box.
-tried "export DISPLAY=remotehostIP:0" but it didn't work
-tried "xterm -DISPLAY=remotehostIP:0" and that didn't work
Other forums suggested I try "xhost +" to allow the display to be exported to remote hosts. Doing so returns "unable to open display "" "
When I tried to simply see how the display was set, echo returned NOTHING.
So what have I done wrong? I have no problem setting up my VNC server to run on DISPLAY :1 (or :0 for that matter)
I had assumed that the default display was always "localhost:0" Is this not the case? If so, how do I set it/automate it? What file do I edit? Thanks in advance.
