I hooked up my old wired keyboard and mouse that came with my Emachine computer. I'm glad I saved them. So far not a freeze, everything is running great. In a couple days if there hasn't been a lockup, I'll put new batteries in my wireless keyboard and mouse and try that out again. If it freezes up again after that, then I'll just use my wired keyboard/mouse permanently.

Oh and I'm getting update notifications again after going to 20.04 LTS I was getting none anymore with 20.10.

I recommend:
  • Use an 'LTS' version. Do not continue to use it beyond its expire-date.
  • Automatically install all security updates as soon as they become available.

Major-version upgrades might result in "breaking changes" depending on your configuration. Therefore, you should carefully review the change-list before upgrading. Consider doing it first in a virtual machine: first install the version that you have now, then apply the upgrade process, then carefully test the resulting setup. If all works as expected, proceed on the real hardware.
