roots password expired.

I cant log in as root. I get a pam warning that it has expired. Who is pam and why is she playing this sick game with my mind. I just installed today. Installed a driver and rebooted once. The only thing unusual is that i used that KUser gui and set the passwords to 2008.
Any hope for root?

PAM - Pluggable Authentican Modules

$man pam <- for a brief intro to PAM

You should be able to reboot in single user mode to reset your root password...
