Laggy in game.

Just put Linux on my machine and I'm having lag while I'm playing Wurm online. I'm not computer savy so just tell me how to find out what is wrong so I can tell you so you can you help me. I've installed Java but not my graphics card or another hard ware with the manufacturers drivers. I'm using ZorinOS so I think I don’t need to get drivers.

Welcome to Linux Questions!

Have you considered that the problem may be with your internet connection rather than ZorinOS? No idea what Wurm is but as it's played online rather than locally your internet connection speed and response time to wherever the web site is will affect its "laggyness! I'd reckon.

Play Bonny!

yeah your probably right. Thank you replying. But how to I find out how much load my computer is under when I play Wurm? I would really like to get this fixed. I've bought Linux Phrasebook so that'll help.

actually I think it might be lagging because of my computer, maybe I need to download drivers or something because its lagging even when I type. should I just redownload the iso. and reinstall? To see if that works? Then you can walk me through getting everything set up?

What hardware do you have? The full version of Zorin uses a modified Gnome desktop I think which is not the lightest of DEs...

I just figured out how to get to the system monitor place where I can check my CPU and RAM usage. It doesn't look like to me like my computer is problem I think it's a software problem. How do I Download my graphics card drivers I have an ATI Radeon 5850, well I'm pretty sure that’s the one at least. I think its the drivers cuz when i open wurm in java its really small resolution.... I think it might be also because ZorinOS dosn't run well with my system..... BTW should I just switch to Ubuntu.

I'm convinced its my graphics card or graphics card drivers. how do I get it to work properly. I'll just wait until I get the book I ordered, Linux Phrasebook. then I'll read that and come back.

please post the output of
Code:
lspci -k | grep -iEA5 'vga|3d'
this is assuming it's indeed a graphical issue.
it can't hurt to post your complete systemspecs with one of these commands:
Code:
inxi -(some switch i don't remember)
lshw
lspci
and please use [code] ... code goes here ... [/code] tags for code.
